What Causes Redness, Irritation And Cracking Of Penis Head?
Question: Penis Head is red, irritated, and cracked. Has been like this for 5 weeks now, after having unprotected sex . No blisters or sores, have had HSV 2 blood test come up negative.

It is good that the HSV is negative. I would like to know the medicines and treatments you have already done. This seem to be balanoposthitis and it is also mandatory that your blood sugar is in normal range.
The suggested treatment is a course of an antibiotic , metronidazole and anti-fungal tablets under the care of a dermatologist- preferably Venereologist.
Please do not apply anything locally to the affected area. Keep the area clean with plain water and at the most you can apply liquid povidone iodine locally if it is available. The area should be well ventilated. Get a rest at Home if possible. No tight underwear or pants. Drink plenty of water.
If the partner is known and is with you she should take the same course and sex without condom after the healing.

I have been applying hydrocortisone 1% cream, it has helped a bit. Should I continue to take that or discontinue that? Also, are those antibiotic and anti-fungal tablets OTC, or no? Running low on money, so wondering if seeing a dermatologist is necessary or immediate. Your thoughts? Thanks for your held doc.
