What Causes Redness Of The Palms In A Child?
Question: my grandson is 12 and quite active with sports---I noticed that both his palms appeared reddish this am at church. His mom said he was at the beach a few days---riding his ' boogie' board. There doesn't seem to
be any swelling or itching. His palms look he has been lifting weights--- I have noticed that just after I use hand weights, my palms appear reddish.
Could the reddish look be an allergic reaction to sun screen?

The redness of palms could be simply due to increased blood circulation over the palms. It does not necessarily indicate the use of handweights, or allergic reactions to sunscreen, although the redness of hands can also be observed in the mentioned cases. It can occur due to various reasons and a careful history taking is essential to bring out the possible cause.
