What Causes Redness On Toe After An Injury?

Question: I was going into the bathtub and I hit my big toe against the side of the tub. I can walk on it and there is no pain. There is a little pink mark on the toe but that may have been there I don't know. Can you injure your toe by just hitting it against the tub lightly. There is no swelling
