What Causes Reduction Of Breast Size After Taking Depo-Provera Birth Control Injection?

default
Posted on Wed, 9 Sep 2015
Question: My breasts have shrunk dramatically within weeks because of being on depo provera birth control injection. I recieved two injections(each lasts 3 months). My last shot was in March. Soon after the shot my breasts shrunk significantly and has stayed like this until now. I have not had a period at all as well since being on depo. This is very much affecting me and I just want my breasts back to normal. I was told I may have a hormone deficiency from depo which caused my breasts to shrink and to just wait 6-9 months for my body to start going back to normal. I read about bioidentical hormones online and I am interested however, there is some confusing information out there. I assume I have low estrogen right now (no periods, no breasts) , therefore if I went on bioidentical hormones would that restore a hormonal balance in my body and thus my breasts would grow back and my periods would return? Is it a bad idea to turn to bioidentical hormones to fix my issue? Will bioidentical hormones surpress my body's natural ability to produce estrogen or will it simply help it? I do not want to be on any hormone therapy long term or inhibit my body further in its production of hormones. I just want my body to produce hormones on its own like it did before depo provera. If bioidentical hormones will help my body get back on track id like to know (i have an appt. next week).

Brief Answer:
Bioidentical hormones will help you.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The bioidentical hormones will help in restoring the hormonal balance in your body. It can help in your periods to return and your breasts to grow back.
You can also start with birth control pills to correct the hormonal imbalance. There is no harm in using bioidentical hormones either. It will not suppress the body's natural ability to produce the hormones.
Do consult your gynecologist and get it prescribed to be back to normal again.
