What Causes Right Side Abdominal Pain?

I have had moderate right-side abdominal pain (roughly between rib cage and hip bone) for two months, which increased in severity about a week ago (painful to stand up straight, extremely painful when pressing the area, eases when laying down). Pain is the only symptom - my appetite is fairly normal, stools are normal, no blood or anything like that. There is no family history of any major diseases at all.
I have lost 6lbs in the past two weeks, though I think a combination of worry and stress has perhaps contributed to a slightly decreased appetite.
Appendicitis has been ruled out. I have had an ultrasound, and everything appeared normal (kidneys, gallbladder etc).
I've had two blood tests done and the only raised marker is c-reactive protein - which is at 1.5. This actually increased over the four days between the first and second test.
I'm waiting for the doctors to tell me should happen next, but in the meantime I'm worried it might be something serious.
What might this combination of symptoms/results indicate?
Many thanks, XXXXXXX
ps. one more point - I have had two previous episodes of this issue within the past 12 months, which each lasted about 10 days before resolving naturally, and the pain was far less severe.
You may have some inflammatory disorder.
Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
Your only symptom is pain, which is relieved by lying down position. You may have some infection or inflammation in your peritoneum. Your raised crp also favour inflammation like peritonitis. You may have some other abdominal problem but mostly it should be inflammatory.
You should take anti inflammatory drugs and a course of antibiotics.
If it doesn't respond to treatment then you need further investigation like complete liver function test, complete blood count and repeat ultrasound abdomen.
Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.

My GP has referred me for another ultrasound to check my gallbladder. Based on my symptoms, does it sound like that could be the likely problem?
Thanks
Yes you have chance of cholycystitis.

You have some inflammatory lesion in your abdomen as I already said. You may have chance of inflammation of gall bladder. You should go for ultrasound abdomen for that.
