What Causes Right Sided Pain In The Neck?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Jan 2017
Question: Good day. I am a 44 year old female. Have been suffering for the past 2 years of a severe pain in my right side, I also have a sharp pain in my left neck that then generate a very sharp pain into my left temple and from there goes into a full blown headache. I am constantly tire, nausea spells, often constipate, do not eat well and sleep for hours on end. after 2 years my GP finally did blood work - more than 42 of them (that included Auto Immune Disorders and only 2 came back with white cell count 12.8 and neutrophils 9.2. I was send for a scan of my tummy and liver and that came back negative. another probe test was done internally and I nearly went through the roof on touch on my right side. However. my GP reckon there is nothing wrong. I am at my witts end because I am in constant pain, I am getting very negative and is sleeping my days through because that is the only time I do not have any pain. Can it be depression?
Thank you

Brief Answer:
History is supportive of severe anxiety and depression

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had been experiencing lately. Based on the history you have shared, it supports the diagnosis of anxiety and depression. Sometimes subjective feeling of pain exists but their is no objective cause towards the symptoms means that, Our mind perceives chronic pains but their is no obective reason or cause.

However increased WBC and neutrophils count need to be tracked down by repeating it after a week or two again to see the trend. Most probably it will be normalised by then. More blood work up since came out to be negative so hopefully their won't be any apparent cause or disease process which haven't altered such extensive work up.

Still if you want to be sure, consult a pain medicine specialist to discuss for any need of any further work up or investigations. If there isnt anything significant in his opinion than a psychiatrist consultation to start on anxiolytics and selective serotonin re uptake inhibitors. Group therapies bt motivational psychologists may XXXXXXX help to control the symptoms.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
