What Causes Right-sided Pain On Back Under Ribs, Fever And Vomiting?
Will need some more information
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting your query to HCM.
From what you are describing the pain in the back and the other symptoms don't seem to be related with each other. In order to create a full picture of what is happening in your body and what is the pain about, I will need some more information.
-- Do you have cough, shortness of breath, chest discomfort?
-- Urinary problems like burning sensation difficulty during urination?
-- Does the pain gets worse with breathing? Does movement make it worse?
-- Touching the area in the back, does it hurt?
-- Does taking XXXXXXX seltzer help the pain?
In general those kind of pains are muscular- if the medicine you took relives the pain, if it gets worse with breathing or it you don't have symptoms that show a lung infection.
Kindly please provide the information required above, and I will be happy to explain my thoughts about what might your symptoms be.
Regards,
Dr. Papaqako.
After movement, I work as a housekeeper, my back and ribs do feel sorer. Im not sure if touching the area makes it feel better or worse, sometimes just rubbing the area seem to ease the irritation by moving it around. XXXXXXX selzer did seem to help for which symtoms more I cant be sure , the tummy is better. I also slept for nearly 24 hours or at least was in bed. the pain persists under my arms around my ribs
so I havnt smoked for two days going to go for another day smoke free
Most possible muscular pain and Viral gastrointestinal infection
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX
Thank you for the information provided. I read very carefully your symptoms.
These are my thoughts about them:
--Looks like the rib pain is a muscular one, since its caused by movement, and helped with the medicine you have used and rest. Maybe you have injured the muscles there during the work in the house, and noticed it only after. The fact that the cough you have didn't got worse indicates that it is not related with a lung infection.
It will need some time to heal completely. I would recommend to my patients to use Ibuprofen 400 mg every 6 hours for 1 week, and after one week to use it as needed. Advise it to use it after meal, since you have had vomiting the last days.
-- Vomiting and fever might be a viral gastrointestinal infection. It generally continues with diarrhea for 3-5 days. The condition is self limited and it will most probably give not complications if you have no other chronich conditions, but you will need to take lots of fluids during these days to not be dehydrated, because dehydration may make you very tired. This may make worse the muscle pain as well.
These are the most common possible causes from what you have described. Although, if the fever continues for more then 5 days, if you are getting worse or not better, consider seeing your local doctor, who will understand more from physical exam too.
Congratulation on your smoke free days. Keep going with it. It may be a very important thing you may do for health if you continue to be persistent in quiting it.
Feel free to ask if you need any more clarification.
Take care.
