What Causes Right-sided Pain On Stomach And Gas?
Question: Around 4 months ago I started feeling a strange pain on the right side of my belly, close to the appendix ... After a while, I went to the doctor and she gave me a medicine that eased the intestine movements (antispasmodic) and it worked great ... But after a couple of days (when I stopped taking it), it started again on my left side (close to my stomach) ... Well, this went on and on and together with it lots of gases, but at some point I got rid of it completely ... The doctor said it was all because of stress and that I was doing that to my self, but one month ago it came back (I had another stressful time) and I could only get rid of the pain with the antispasmodic medicine. I never saw blood in my stools before, but two days ago I did and it seemed to be like it was digested blood, the stools were dark, stinky and loose. Does this really have to do with stress or could it be something else? I will be going back to her clinic tomorrow, but I would like to hear a second opinion.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Brief Answer:
need stool test
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
The dark black stools you had could be due to blood.
I would suggest a stool occult blood test to check whether it was blood.I woulalso advise to get blood hemoglobin levels.
In case occult blood is positive or if hemoglobin levels are low you would need an upper GI endoscopy to look for the presence of gastric or duodenal ulcer.
In case bother the tests are negative it could be due to stress( the pain ).
Hope this helps
