What Causes Rough Skin Under The Penis Head?

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: I have a condition on my penis, under the head, encircling the entire shaft, I have about a 3/8 inch of rough skin. My wife describes it as dry skin. I am circumcised. I have had this situation for about 4 years, and it dosent effect my sexual activity, except that the affected area is numb, and most recently my wife has started complaining about it. I am 57 years old. Sometimes the area seems raw and weeps moisture, I apply neosporin and within a couple days it stops.
Any ideas?

psoriasis of the glans

Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I am sory t heat that you have a skin condition on your penis. This is probably a form of psoriasis. I would recommend that instead of using the neosporin that you use a topical steroid like hydrocortisone. This area will come and go so you will need to treat it as needed with the steroid cream. If the hydrocortisone does not work you may need a stronger strength of cream and I usually recommend triamcinalone 0.1% use it sparingly and only when needed. that will keep your skin in check.

So you really think its as simple as that? In this day of the internet, and my wife who lives on it, and self diagnoses herself to a frenzy, she has come up with penis cancer, since one article she read stated something like..." anything out of normal, could be cancer, from lumps to strange skin formations".
I only ask, since psoriasis that I have known usually flakes skin particles, this does not, it dosen't itch, flake or bother me at all, just sometimes it becomes raw and leaks a clear fluid.

Detailed Answer:
Yes I think it is that simple. We get lots of complaints on this forum about this condition. I would recommend trying the steroid creams before jumping to any conclusions of cancer.
