Brief Answer:
Need antibiotics.
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
Thanks for the information given.
Yellow mucus and presence of chills suggests bacterial infection, and need to be treated with antibiotics.
For such cases, I usually give antibiotics like azithromycin or amoxicillin+clavulanate along with decongestants/antihistamines for about 5 days. Your doctor will guide you in treatment.
Meanwhile, to decrease secretions and relieve congestion, you can take antihistamines like Levocetirizine 5 mg once daily. Also, avoid exposure to cold/dust and do steam inhalation 6-8 times a day. In presence of yellow mucus, we cannot take cough suppressants.
Hope I have answered your query.
