Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, since then involved glands are of face and likely salivary so the causes of stones here range from abnormalities in levels of calcium, phosphate and other minerals present in body as micronutrients. The triggers can be due to dehydration leading to pooling of saliva or thick saliva where these get stuck and form concentrates which can transform into stones or may be some infection focus forms a nidus around which deposition of calcium or phosphate lead to stone formation. Kindly get a detailed examination. and work up done by ENT specialist and you may be asked to have ultrasound or CT scan of head and neck done to locate the stones and whether it is causing some abnormality like obstruction of saliva flow or not because that can lead to further swelling of the gland. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
