Question: Hello, I wanted to ask a question regarding peyronies disease.Concerning the skin and graft operation, I understand there is a risk of losing sensetivity and sensation. Does this affect part/s of the penis or the whole penis?and how big is the area affected?
Thank you for your time

Brief Answer:
Get examined by an Urologist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, let me advise you, to get examined by an Urologist first.
The reason being, that you've written, your GP has no idea about Peyronies surgery.
The peyronies plaque is incised or excised, and a graft is placed over that area.
There're various types of tissue used as grafts.
This leads to a loss of sensation over the graft, in about 10-15%.
The area affected is well seen on examination, and confirmed on a doppler ultrasound scan(DUS).
Wish you well.

Thankyou doctor, So just to confirm the area that would possibly lose sensation is on only a part of the penis, not the whole organ. Is it just around where the surgery is done?

Brief Answer:
Sensation is lost around grafted area.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Usually, in most people who develop it, it's around the area of the surgical site.
Wish you well.

Brief Answer:
results of surgery isn't uniform.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
After surgery for peyronies, only 10-15% patients have loss of sensation over grafted area. I'd mentioned it earlier also.
Usually, meaning all patients don't have a uniform experience.
Same with the term most.
Hope your anxiety is cleared.
It's good to know all aspects of a surgery, before having it.
In fact, some patients also develop erectile dysfunction.
But that's also not an uniform result.
Wish you well.

also is there a loss of sensation as a result of the nesbits plication surgery?

Thankyou very much

Brief Answer:
Plication surgery is an option, advised by surgeon.

Detailed Answer:
Hi again.
Plaque surgery doesn't cause nerve damage.
So don't worry about it.
Depending upon curvature and size of penis, a plication surgery is an option.
There's no loss of sensation seen in this surgery, in majority.
Hope your doubts are cleared.
Wish you well.
