What Causes Seizures After Traumatic Brain Injury?

Question: I have had several grand mal seizures and I have had 3 accidents (Mva) plus at least 4 serious falls resulting in concussions. Question is: is it possible all the heat trauma has now changed my brain such that I now have seizures.

I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

The answer to your question is that it is certainly possible. If you have had a traumatic brain injury (even one let alone three) there can be permanent brain changes.
Since the injury damaged some of the brain cells the remaining cells try to take upon them the functions of the lost ones. To do that they create new connections between them in order to replace the lost functions. So as new connections are created the brain structure is altered. Unfortunately this process is not perfect, these new connections are less stable and more prone to abnormal electrical discharges leading to seizures.
For that reason seizures are one of the main complications of traumatic brain injury, at times very difficult to treat.
