What Causes Severe Aches In The Liver Area?

Question: I have been having severe aches in my liver region that radiated around to my back on the right side since 4 days ago, where it was very bad and was only relieved with strong pain killers. Now the ache is still there and my back is still hurting. I have seen my doctor (I have never been able to tolerate fatty ,greasy or oily foods) now it seems dairy causes this stomach ache also. I had bloods taken and he has mentioned a very irritated liver. I am booked to have a ultrasound in the morning. But in the mean time I am stressing out that it is cancer or something very serious. At first the doctor thought it may have been gall stones. Any thoughts? This guy aches have been getting worse for the last 3 months or so.
Brief answer....explained below
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Considering your age and symptoms, the most likely cause for your severe pain is gall bladder stones however other reasons can be kidney stone and other very long list of causes.
In any case it can not be cancer as you are fearing.
Get the ultrasound done and you should be able to find the cause.
Sometimes CT abdomen may be required if ultrasound doesn't reveal anything.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks
