I read your question carefully and I understand the position you are in.

Bringing her to the ER is an option. They can administer a sedative to calm her down and give a physical check up to evaluate whether there is something physical going on, causing her disturbance.

The other option would be to try to increase the dosage of Risperdal until you can have support, which may help in calming her at least temporarily. I am not sure what dosage to suggest, it depends on what dosage she is currently on and increased very gradually, may go up to 8mg a day. However if you choose this option try to make sure there is not something ailing, check her ankle whether it is swollen, painful on touch, bruised, check for fever, pulse, consider the possibility of belly pain due to no bowel movement etc.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.

Detailed Answer:
If you go to the ER you simply explain what is going on and say that you are worried for the cause of your daughter's agitation (I am assuming she was calm before), in someone with special needs who is not always able to communicate her symptoms it is difficult to determine the cause of the agitation, might be because something physical is going on and is unable to express it, that is why I suggested it although at the end of the day may result in a false alarm.
As for how long she will be there it is hard to know, depends on the findings, if all results normal may be back in hours, if there is some doubt and tests are needed, then more.
If cleared of course she should go to day support tomorrow.

I understand your difficulty regarding transportation, that is why I suggested the second option of giving a higher Risperidone dose, as I said if physically nothing seems to bother her you may skip the ER and try that.

Let me know if I can further assist you.

Detailed Answer:
I am sorry, I can feel how tired and frustrated you are. I said that she should go to the support group because if she has been confined for these 2 weeks perhaps that has been a trigger for her agitation, may suffer her change of routine.

Regarding what you yourself can take, if you mean something for only a couple of days, I would say either try some herbal products such as passionflower tea or lavender oil, or if not enough and want medication a benzodiazepine such a alprazolam for some days. Benzodiazepines are not to be used long term thoug, cause tolerance and dependence.

I hope to have been of help.

Detailed Answer:
Of course not all people start hollering, but since we are speaking of a special needs child it may happen to have inappropriate reactions to changes which might seem irrelevant to us "normal" people.

As I said it is not always easy to determine the cause when the patient can't clearly express him/herself. What we can do is to watch out for signs which might signal some other physical ailment and try to create a calm structured environment. Afterwards we may not always succeed, that is when we are forced to use medication like Risperdal (mentioning Risperdal as available at home, in ER may use other drugs).

I hope the situation will improve soon.
