What Causes Severe Anxiety While On Cymbalta?

default
Posted on Mon, 3 Apr 2017
Question: I have been on 60mg of Cynbalta for a couple years. Right now, I am under a tremendous amount of stress, anxiety and I am feeling depressed. My wife is very ill.

I am thinking about upping my Cymbalta to 120mg. The other option is adding 150mg of Wellbutrin to the 60mg of Cymbalta i already take.

Do you have an opinion on what would help?

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Your previous questions mention Adderall and Xanax. Both of these are likely significantly WORSENING anxiety and depression -- Adderall makes anxiety worse, and Xanax is so short-acting that it causes rapid withdrawal and worsens anxiety. I strongly recommend working with your prescribing doctor to wean off these medications. I would not change your Cymbalta dose, as this will not help until the other medications have been stopped.
