What Causes Severe Back Pain During Pregnancy?
Question: Dear Doctor,
I am 20 weeks pregnant and since 13 weeks i am having back pain particularly on left side ribs and end of the rib. Some times coudnt able to bear the pain also.. It is on and off. Dont know why it is coming? Can you pls explain the reason and any remedy for the same?

Hi,
The severe pain occasionally suggests that it is not normal.
Cholestasis during pregnancy is common, the bile sludge will fail to pass out and cause the pain. So I suggest a consult with General surgeon to check if it is cholestasis.
I think it is not proper to delay the diagnosis when you are pregnant.
