Brief Answer:
Other options are available.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for posting your query.

I am Dr Sudhir Kumar, Neurologist, and I would try my best to help you.

I have noted your clinical details. Based on this, the pain is of neuropathic type, which is not responding to the usual medications.

Other options are available, which include baclofen, tramadol, venlafaxine and opioids (morphine, oxycodone, buprenorphine, fentanyl and hydromorphone). One or more of these medications can be tried to relieve your neuropathic pain due to MS.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,

Brief Answer:
You can opt for spinal cord stimulation.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

If oral medicines have not worked, you can opt for spinal cord stimulator and pain pumps. You can get more information about them from a neurosurgeon or a pain specialist.

Brief Answer:
Query for a new patient should be sent separately.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

The query for a new patient (your brother) should be sent separately. If we mix up two patients queries into one, our opinion can get confusing and may harm the patient.

Brief Answer:
Please attach the MRI scan report.

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

So, you have MS as well as depressed nerve in L5. Please attach your MRI report, so that I can give you the advice whether surgery is needed or not?

Spinal cord stimulator is a device implanted by operation, which helps in relieving severe nerve-related pain.
