default
Posted on Mon, 11 Jul 2016
Question: Started on self-injectible cholesterol drug, Repatha, weeks ago. Dosage is 140mg every 2 weeks. Have had 3 injections, with latest being last Tuesday 6/7/16 @ 4:00pm. That night, developed aching in upper back area, underneath clavicle, and have had that aching/pain since then. Could it be related? Thanks...

Brief Answer:
Repatha side effects

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns.

You recently started taking Repatha for cholesterol and noticed an increase in back pain. There is a slight increase in back pain associated with Repatha but it is not related to muscle damage as the other cholesterol lowering medication are prone to. This maybe self limiting and can be treated with tylenol, local heat or ice. If your symptoms persist then I would recommend stopping the medication but at this time treat it as above.

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
