What Causes Severe Back Pain While Waking From Bed Post An Injury?

Follow the Advises..
Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX, Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern,,
From your description it seems like a spasm/sprain of the back muscles which is getting stressed every time you try to get out of the bed..
Now you need to narrow down at first the right posture for you to sleep cause that is the main culprit here..
As for the pain please take simple analgesic like Tab PARACETAMOL 650 MG Three times daily after food for the next 2-3 days as it's(the pain) needed to be reduced at the very beginning ..
Apply Ice-pack or even a bag of frozen peas over the injured right side of your back , it'll help in reduction of the inflammation..
Give it a few days to heal spontaneously with minimal physical activities and / any strenuous activities (I'd also advice you not to drive for the time being)..
Now since you've injured the right back , you may sleep with the left side below(left lateral position) as most likely it should keep the right side relaxed, also while getting up don't try to get up suddenly - here's what you should do, at first roll back to the corner of the bed, first bring your knees close to your tummy while holding them with both of your hands, known as the fetal position, please google it to see the picture for better understanding..
Then after getting in to that position and rolling in to the corner of the bed, gently roll further while extending your legs down to the floor, now gently with the support of your hands, get up.. I hope I make the description clear..
Now it's better to keep another person for helping and supporting while trying/doing this for the first time..
If you have any doubts , please feel free to ask , I'll be glad to clarify..
Take Care
Kind Regards

What about painkillers like Tylenol or Advil?
Would acupuncture work?
please follow the advises....
Detailed Answer:
Welcome Back Dear,
Now no need to get afraid with the touch of cold, as it quite often brings shock like sensation even in normal healthy areas (you might've experienced them as as well) due to sudden freezing sensation, which means the nerve endings are intact , a rather good sign to be specific..
So just bear with that and when applying the ice-pack ,try to wrap it up with a thin piece of clothe to avoid the direct contact..it's not pain which you're describing after the touch of ice-pack but a generalized contraction of the muscle fibers, which can be easily avoided after wrapping the pack with the clothe , helping you not to get exposed to it directly.. none of these are of any harm though , so please stop worrying, these are normal physiological responses, can happen to any one of us..
Yes please re-arrange your bed in order to follow it properly..
Also put a soft pillow at the exit-side of bed which will help you get up easily..
Now as for pain , if you go through my previous answer, you can find that I've already mentioned "Tab PARACETAMOL 650 MG Three times daily after food for the next 2-3 days as it's(the pain) needed to be reduced at the very beginning" - Tylenol , as you've mentioned is just another brand name for the actual pharmaceutical agent named as 'PARACETAMOL' , this kind of OTC drugs are available in such a variety of names in every corner of the world (every names vary from every different drug store and every different blocks) so as per the International guidelines , we are bound to write down only Generic names in this regard to avoid any confusion.. So please take it the way I've already mentioned it , so if you don't take it , it'll unnecessarily take longer time to heal, creating more discomfort..
Now one thing I need to tell you very clearly, if this pain which you're describing , happened after this fall , should not take more than 10-14 days to recover (Please try to understand that there are lot of ifs and buts, nature and impact of the injury, any past physical problems, how badly it affected you - which can only be explained after a thorough Physical Examination individual ).. so if those others factors don't play a role , then it shouldn't take more than 2 weeks..
I need to be XXXXXXX that I'm a mainstream medical practitioner (Allopathy as you might be knowing), so I don't possess much information about the alternative & Traditional medicines(Acupuncture as you've mentioned), but I can tell you that those techniques generally prove effective in case of chronic(long standing) pain to be specific..
So please follow these advises, and let me know how you stay in the due course..
My Best Wishes..
Kind Regards
