Brief Answer:
Information

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome,

The symptoms you described, and that it responded to amoxicillin in 2 days, and that the doctor thought that your throat looked like a strep infection, all point to it very likely being strep throat infection. In the future if it happens again, ask for a throat swab to be done and sent for culture.

The incubation period - from exposure to infection - is about 2 to 5 days. So your history of infection after about 36 hours fits with that.

It's possible your friend is a strep carrier. You may want to gently approach the subject by telling her this history and asking if she might consider getting a throat swab to check.

It's possible that your repeated infections following exposure to this person are coincidence. In that case, make sure you aren't doing anything that compromises your immune system, such as smoking cigarettes.

I hope this information helps.
