What Causes Severe Chronic Migraine Headaches
Question: I have severe chronic migraine headaches. I have one nearly every day of the week. I am currently being treated by my pcp and a neurologist. my current med. are imitrex and butorphanol tartrate for rescue and lisinopril for prevention. I got a call saying I need to go to new Mexico tomorrow for work because a machine I designed broke down but I don't have enough of the butorphanol to get me through the job. One of my triggers is altitude changes and barometric changes. Also my next neurologist visit is scheduled for wed this coming week but I can't get a refill from either in time. Can someone help please?
Brief Answer:
Migraine
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.
I am sorry for the symptoms you are having!
Migraine is clinical diagnose and it is decided after brain examination are done, brain CT scan.
Migraine treatment is chosen individually.
Your treatment seems fine, perhaps you can use medication to dominate the attack (triptan family, no more than 4 tables a month) another choice can be difmetre. Anyway you should talk with your
neurologist about my opinion.
Wish you all the best

Brief Answer:
Don't abuse with medications
Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
I know migraine attacks are a disaster but abusing with medications can provoke more attacks so you need to be patient.
Try to use combinations of antiinflamator's with analgesics and avoid other medications.
I am sorry I can't help more but my advice is to avoid caffein products and try difmetre if attacks persist.
Hope I have helped you.
