Question: I am having severe constipation for 2nd week. I had a bowel movement 3 days ago after taking a laxative.
Today I took 300mg of Colace with no results, & I'm afraid to take a laxative again since I then had diarehea
all day & a upset stomach. What do you advise?

Brief Answer:
Tetention enema will be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms,

The cause of constipation is likely to be due to impacted stools in rectum. Orally taken laxatives may further worsen the problem.

I would suggest you the following
1. Retention enema: Simple retention enema with Sodium phospahte will help in evacuation.
2. Plenty of oral fluids
3. High fiber diet

Do consult your physician for further assessment and evaluation of your symptoms.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance, will be glad to assist you.
Wishing you happy and healthy life

Take Care
