What Causes Severe Cough And Sore Throat?

Question: Hi, I just came back from a country with some of the worst air pollution in the world. I was there for 3 weeks, with severe coughing from my chest. I've been back for a week, and I now have a sore throat with sharp pain when I swallow and still coughing.

I can understand your concern.
According to your history you are having respiratory tract infection probably upper respiratory tract.
If i were your treating doctor i would have recommended you to take
1. Tab Levocitrezine 10 mg twice daily for 3 days, morning and night
2. Tab Amoxiclav 625 mg morning and night for 5 days after the food or alternatively you can take Tab Azithromycin 500 mg once daily for 3 days.
3. Drink boiled water
4. Avoid oily food and outside for 1 week
5. Do salt water gargling or by using any mouth lozenges for gargling
