What Causes Severe Cramping In My Inner Right Thigh Muscle Which Lead To Dizziness While Trying To Walk?
Question: Two times in the last month or so I was awakened with severe cramping in my inner right thigh muscle. I tried to walk it off but became very dizzy, seeing spots and sweating. Both episodes only lasted between 5 and 10 minutes.
Brief Answer:
Cause of thigh pain
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Such kind of thigh pain of short duration could be due to:
- Thigh adductor muscle spasm
- Disc herniation at L2-3/L3-4 level
- Mass lesion at same level
- Psoas muscle inflammation
To find out the cause, I need more information about you and few investigations.
I need answers of these questions:
- Is there any back pain?
- Is there any history of heavy work, gym or exercise?
- Is there any history of infection, fever?
- Any history of trauma?
Along with it, kindly consult doctor for an examination and MRI LS spine.
Hope it will help you. If you have any doubt, do let me know.
Thanks. Take care.

Brief Answer:
History interpretation
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for providing me the history. Your history is suggesting severe adductor muscle spasm. The dizziness occurred due to severe pain while you tried walking with such pain. It is normal body response to severe painful stimulus.
Now the cause of adductor muscle spasm could be:
- Exercise and muscle fatigue
- Electrolyte imbalance especially potassium and/or calcium.
- Reduced flexibility of muscles
- Less likely hip joint arthritis
My suggestions are:
- Avoid any kind of weight bearing
- Do stretching of all muscles under supervision
- Drink plenty of juices, lemon water with salt and keep yourself hydrated.
- Consult orthopedician for examination of hip and thigh. He/she will rule out any arthritis or muscle tear.
- You can take painkiller like Diclofenac with muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone after prescription.
Hope it will help. Thanks. Take care.
