What Causes Severe Dizziness And Stomach Pain?

Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Welcome on HCM!
I passed carefully through your actual clinical history and would like to explain that your symptoms do not seem to be related to Cartia.
Have you made any changes to your therapy with Cartia lately (increase the dose or start it recently)?
Did you measure your blood pressure during this episode?
Was dizziness triggered by head movements? This could indicate possible inner ear disorder or cervical spondylarthrosis (chronic degeneration of cervical column).
A viral infection could also trigger this situation (as you have nausea and heartburn too).
Are your symptoms related to standing up position? This could indicate possible orthostatic hypotension.
Coming to this point, I would recommend performing some tests to exclude other possible causes :
- a resting ECG to examine your heart rhythm
- blood lab tests : I agree with your doctor recommendation on performing complete blood count, thyroid hormone levels, blood electrolytes, fasting glucose as some metabolic casuses can trigger this symptomatology.
- a cervical spine X ray study to exclude possible cervical spondylarthrosis.
- labyrinthine tests, which are needed to rule in/out a possible inner ear disorder.
- A Head Up Tilt test may be needed if suspicions of orthostatic hypotension are raised during physical exam (a fall more than 20mmHg in your systolic blood pressure in standing up position compared to sitting position).
Meanwhile, I recommend you to have some rest, avoid physical activity and abrupt movement of your head. Taking plenty of water would help remain well hydrated and avoid low blood pressure.
Measuring your blood pressure would give more information to possibly exclude low blood pressure or orthostatic hypotension.
You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.
Hope you will find this answer helpful!
Kind regards,
Dr. Iliri
