What Causes Severe Dry Itchy Skin, Rashes And Flushing Of Face?
the last several months, I have been experiencing severe dryness all over my skin, flushing on my face that doesn't go away, tremendous itchiness, tremendous sensitivity to heat that causes a rash to spread on my face, eczema all over my body. I have tried to include a lot of oils in my diet like olive oil, flaxseed,
fish oil, etc. but it doesn't seem to be helping! HELP! I can barely venture outside anymore, I am so embarrassed. Cortisone creams don't seem to help, and although a cortisone shot clears up the condition temporarily, it returns after a day or two. Also, my doctor refuses to give me any more cortisone shots because I have diabetes and high blood pressure. Any ideas? Thank you so much for your help, really appreciate it. Your symptoms may be caused by hyperthyroidism.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
In my opinion You may suffer from hyperthyroidism which occurs when thyroid gland produces too much of the hormone called thyroxine.
Symptoms like dryness, flushing on your face, sensitivity to heat are the typical symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Also you may see thyroid enlargement as a swelling in the front site of the neck. You can develope itchy hives on your skin.
I would order for base line:
-blood tests - TSH level and thyroid hormone levels (T4,T3)
-thyroid ultrasound.
Your local doctors will know about this tests.
Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
