What Causes Severe Fatigue, Drowsiness, Lightheadedness And Painful Foot?

default
Posted on Sat, 16 Apr 2016
Question: I have a myriad of symptoms that have been consistently present for about 7 weeks, some of which are beginning to interfere with daily life. The greatest issues are severe fatigue, drowsiness, tiring easily with decreased productivity. I have lightheadedness with occasional dizziness; I'm always cold, yet have occasional night sweats (I'm post-menopausal). I get frequent, painful foot & calf cramping & all of my muscles seem to always be in a tightened state. My eyes burn, & have a thick film, but no actual drainage to speak of; drops & ointments, both lubricating & allergy, don't give relief. I've had high BP for several years; currently uncontrolled. Emotions are labile. I've been on thyroid medication for quite a few years. My basic question & concern is the persistent overwhelming fatigue, tiredness, lack of concentration, & feeling like I'm "slogging through mud" with every move. One other thing is that I've had low-lying upper respiratory symptoms for the full 7 weeks, but it has never developed into a full-blown cold or infection. I'm basically constantly feeling like I'm "coming down" with something. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be due to hormone deprivation.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone very carefully through the details and the entire scenario seems to point towards one single direction - hormone deprivation in post menopausal age. I feel that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) will take care of your problems. Please visit a gynecologist and discuss the options for the same.

There is another part of the problem. This relates to the high BP, high cholesterol and high triglycerides. This calls for lifestyle modification rather than anything else. It is very important to walk regularly in the morning. Back it up with brisk exercises. Dietary control is very important. Low salt and high fiber content of diet is also important.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
