What Causes Severe Hair Loss In An Elderly Person?

More information: this has been going on for about 6 months. I do not have some of the symptoms Lupus describes except for the low energy and minor joint pain which I attributed to lack of exercise. I have been an occasional user of botox. I also take about 1/4 of an Ambien when I am up late and my routine for sleep has been disrupted. I take bio Identical hormones (estrogen and progestogen) and I used to add a small amount of testosterone to them but saw a hair on my chin so I discontinued its use. I have considered a hormonal imbalance because of that but no tests at this time. I dont get sick and although I am dealing with a daughter with cancer (grown and married) I am generally social and happy.
Hair loss related to hormonal changes & stress, biotin & minoxidil
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at Healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
According to me your hair loss seems to be related to hormonal changes as well as stress.
If I was your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply minoxidil 2 percent lotion on the affected areas twice daily and take hair supplements containing biotin once daily.
Moreover loss of upto 100-150 hair per day is normal.
Don't worry about them much.
As far as rash is concerned I would recommend you to upload the photographs of the affected areas under the report section of the site so that I can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.
