Question: Hi. I took Plan B on March 22nd. I had a light period shortly after and just finished a 10 day period, which was light with cramps on May 10th. Since taking the pill about 50% of my hair has fallen out. You can see clear to my scalp. My hair has been thinning over the hearts but I finally got it under control with diet, exercise and supplements, all to have it fall out worse than before a month and 1/2 after this pill. I'm devesataed. My question is will my hair grows back? How long till my hormones stabilize? I've been take Macs root powder, which I believe helped my period start and then stop at 10 days. Just so sick to my stomach every time I look in the mirror. Also, my skin is sagging around my eyes. I'm 40 and look like I aged 5 years in a month. What should I do? I'm considering shaving my head because I'm scared I may go completely bald after this pill.

Brief Answer:
It may be a coincidence

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear and thanks for your query.

I'm sorry for the health issue you are facing.

In my opinion ONE pill of Plan-B can't cause so much hair fall , it can be a coincidence .
Hence you should do a blood work ,that is usually taken to make sure the THYROID GLAND or an AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE isn’t the culprit.

If blood work will be OK ,than it can be ALOPECIA form androgenetic cause .
This is a hereditary condition that affects about 30 million XXXXXXX women, according to the XXXXXXX Academy of Dermatology, and is the most common kind of hair loss.
Although it mostly occurs in the late 50s or 60s, it can happen at any time, even during teenage years.

Hence contact with a dermatologist .

How can it be just a coincidence when I hadn't had hair falling out like this until after I took plan B? That doesn't make sense and just seems like a convenient answer rather than trying to answer my questions regarding my hormones. May I get a refund? Your answer in very unsatisfactory.

Explanation is given below....

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again !
I'm sorry for you but in my experience as a doctor I haven't seen a patient like you ,from one I-pill have so much hair fall .

Hormone like I-pill or contraception method can cause hair fall ,but if they are used for a long period of time .

One pill ,yes can trigger any body mechanism like autoimmune response.
Hence I stand to all the things I wrote above,go for a blood work or contact with a dermatologist.

Best regards

what about the 10 day menstrual? My period usually lasts 5-6 days. Also I'm cramping all the time. You don't think any of that is connected the the plan b pill? How long do the side effects lasts? Also, I read on this forum that after about 30 days hair loss can occur agate the plan b pill, which is exactly what is happening to me.

Brief Answer:
Elongated vaginal bleeding may be a side affect of I-pill

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear again.

Elongated vaginal bleeding ,but is within normal days, can be due to use of Plan -B ,because the dose of hormone is very big.
Usually side effect from the use of Plan-B last until the next cycle .

While for the second health issue ,excess hair fall as I sad above ,Plan-B can trigger hair fall ,but it can the reason .

Hence I insist to contact with a dermatologist and have a blood work done.
