What Causes Severe Hair Loss?
I am a female, Age 25. I have too much hair fall these days and my hair has become so thin(literally scalp can be visible some places). I am loosing my confidence and literally going to depression because of hair loss. No one in my family has hair problems. I was on a crash diet for an year which resulted this I feel. Could you please suggest me what kind of tests I should undergo to know any vitamin/mineral deficiency causing this? Will there be any other reasons for this problem? How do I take it further?
Most probably telogen effluvium due to crash diet, go for certain tests

Hi
Thanks for being at healthcare magic
I can understand your concern.
You have most probably developed telogen effluvium due to crash dieting.
Don't worry as it will resolve in 4-6 months.
As hair fall is commonly associated with anaemia and thyroid disorders I would recommend you to go for the following tests to rule these diseases: haemoglobin, serum vitamin B 12 levels, serum ferritin levels and thyroid function tests.
Meanwhile in such cases I recommend my patients to take hair supplements like tablet follihair or tablet keraglo XXXXXXX daily for atleast 6 months.
These are prescription medicines and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.
I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
