What Causes Severe Headache After Taking Synthroid?
Question: My wife just had a thyroidectomy and was prescribed 1000 mg of calcium twice daily and also included synthroid 0.2mg once daily in the morning. My question is that she is experiencing a severe headache on the left side for two days now. Could this be from the increased dose of synthroid or calcium?
Brief Answer:
Hello
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day,
Noted your concern.
Usually the dose of calcium can be reduced after few days of surgery if PTH levels and calcium levels are normal.
It is very unlikely that the one sided headache is secondary to either calcium or Synthroid. Most common cause of one sided headache is vascular headache ( Migraine and similar types). If the headache doesn't improve with panadol and rest, ( or if she has vomiting or fever) it is better to meet your GP
