What Causes Severe Headache After Taking Tylenol?

Question: I have been taking Tylenol 1000 mg 4 times a day for 3 weeks after knee surgery. Today I have a really bad headache I am wondering if the excess Tylenol can cause this and if there are any other side effects from taking it this long?

Hi,

This headache is unlikely to be related to the prolonged tylenol intake. The most feared complication of prolonged paracetamol intake is liver damage. I will suggest that you ask your doctor of the possibility of switching to another pain medication so as to take a break from tylenol.
