What Causes Severe Headache And Halitosis After Tonsillectomy And Adenoidectomy?
Question: Hi, my daughter had tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy 6 days ago. I've been giving her pain meds as instructed and keeping fluids in her. She wakes up in severe pain almost every night but now is complaining of a severe headache to the point of being difficult to console. Is this something I need to bring her in for? Also, I was warned of her having a foul odor from her mouth but it is much worse than I expected. You can smell it as soon as you get near her.
Brief Answer:
No worries, supportive care only
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking
I read your question and i understand your concern. Headache is due to sinuses involvement which is very common after extensive adenoids and tonsils removal. Pain is also explanable and so is the bad breath.
All you need is some ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation, garlic water mouth rinses or any other mouth wash. Wait for it. These symptoms will improve with healing of inflammation with passage of time over a time frame of few weeks.
I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and your daughter and dont forget to close the discussion please.
