What Causes Severe Headache While Weaning Off Naturogest?
Question: Hi,
My wife is 12 week pregnent and she was suggested to intake naturgest 200 by doctor for 3 months . She has just stopped the medicine intake (dosage twice a day) four days before and started suffering severe headache from the next day of withdrwal. Is it side effect of medicine stopped suddenly or something else?

Naturgest 200 is basically a hormonal ( progesterone ) preparation - used in early pregnancy to support the pregnancy & avoid recurrent abortions/ to safe guard a precious pregnancy... so it needs to be taken as per instructions of treating gynecologist, without giving a break.
When given in suitable dosage for sufficient period. Naturgest 200 is not known to have any withdrawal effect like head ache.
* The severe head ache your wife has seems to be from any other cause like sinusitis/ refractory error of eye/ high blood pressure/ migraine / chronic constipation or just psychological stress & lack of sleep... It definitely needs to be treated after pin pointing the cause.Please consult your gynecologist / any other specialist she suggests earliest.
* home care- Till then.. let your wife-
- take rest, be assured that the complete course given by doctor takes care of the baby very well & mostly nullifies the chance of miscarriage.. so she should be fully positive about pregnancy.
- Let her have a light nutritious diet with sufficient water (10- 12 glasses/ day)
- A paracetamol 250 mg pill can be taken after eating.
- Let her use Yoganidra audio cassette & have sound sleep with relief of stress.
