What Causes Severe Itchy Skin While On Hydroxyzine?
Question: i am taking hydrozinefor a reaction to prnicillin but i'm itching from this edicine also.should i be tested for other allergies and do i stop this medicnr
Brief Answer:
yes stop it
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
If you think the hydrozine (hydroxyzine) which is an antihistamine is making the itching worse then definitely stop it.
Many people do have other allergies but usually not to antihistamines.
Consult your doctor and see if they think this is just an adverse effect of the hydroxyzine or a true allergy.
If you are allergic to antihistamines then you would need to know this since they are commonly used drugs.
Another good drug for itching is doxepin. It is an antidepressant but at very low doses it can be a great drug to stop itching. You can discuss this with your doctor if you are still having a great deal of itching.
I hope you get relief soon
