Question: my husband has severe leg cramps and recently found a black and blue on his hip. Is this connected.

I appreciate your concern

The black / bluish discoloration can be a subcutaneous or superficial bleed. It can be related to exercise, strain, blood thinners and anti platelet use.

If there is swelling and pain associated with the bluish discoloration then a Doppler ultrasound of the lower limbs should be advised to rule out a DVT as the cause.

If the DVT is not there then NSAIDs , physiotherapy and muscle relaxants can be advised as treatment for a week.
