What Causes Severe Leg Cramps?
ER did say I had PAD
PAD
Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome
I appreciate your concern
Yes, Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a possibility especially if there is presence of exertion leg symptoms with non healing wounds or a history of diabetes and/or smoking.
To establish the diagnosis, ABI must be done. Its known as the Ankle brachial index. It should be determined as its a non invasive first line investigation which is highly sensitive and specific in picking up PAD.
Treatment involves, beta blockers, statins, anti platelets , hypertension and diabetes control. If medication don't provide adequate relief then endovascular and surgical intervention would be advised in due consultation with your doctor. For the time being symptomatic treatment with NSAIDs can continue. However, the PAD severity should be assessed.
Wishing you best of health
Thanks
