Question: Hi Doctor, i have been having severe pain in both my legs after playing football for sometime.
whenever i rest from playing is the only time pain is going away slowly. After seeing a doctor i did an MRI and the report findings indicated "Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome". But when the doctor saw the images he told it is actually a "Stress Fracture of the Tibia". Can you please assist me on what you can see from the attached images? Also am i supposed to stop football and for how long? thank you.

Brief Answer:
Stress fracture present.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
I have seen the attached images. The MRI scan shows a stress fracture of tibia. This needs a cast and an absolute rest for proper healing. Do not play football. You can walk only on cast or in air boots. Absolute rest will help in healing. The rest is needed at least for 4-6 weeks for proper healing.
I hope this answers your query.

Brief Answer:
Calcium supplements will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Regular calcium and vitamin D3 supplements will help in an early healing. But rest is necessary to avoid further stress in the area for healing.
Regular stress and weak bones can cause such a problem.
Hope my answer is helpful.
