What Causes Severe Neck Pain And Nausea?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: Hi,
I'm 25. My neck hurts all the time, everyday. (Could it be my thyroid?) I have nausea very often and had plenty of intense ones. I have to burp often everyday. My eyes hurt aswell, a pressure feeling, my sense of perception, vision is not right. And my ears have pressure aswell. I'm very tired. All the time. My parents tell me to go to psychotherapy. But I want a full check at a hospital. I was forced to take depakine chrono 500 mostly for a long time. And abilify or something for a while. I also was forced to stay at a psychiatric ward 3 times. Where they didn't help me. But only gave me pills. Now I just live with the symptoms I have now everyday. And no one helps me out. I also have a wierd sense of numbness on the left of my face. I often feel like when I close my right eye, I percieve my surroundings differently than when I close my left. And I don't mean vision. I wear glasses to see far. But it's definitly not that. I hope you can help me understand what's going on with my body or point me in the right direction. Thanks alot in advance.

Brief Answer:
Yes, a thyroid pathology should be excluded.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Sorry to learn about your bothersome symptoms.
Yes, of course you should check the thyroid function.
The symptoms of hypothyroidism are not always the classical ones ( weight gain, constipation ect).
It can be manifested with a wide range of symptoms.
I can understand your difficult situation, but you should insist to check the thyroid and not only.
A full check is needed.
If everything is normal than probably the psychiatrist will help.
Will be a pleasure to help you further if you have other questions.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta

Thank you for the quick answer. Could you tell me how I should procede with a full check at a hospital though? Also I'm scared they might find nothing and force me to take antipsychotics. Or worse, put me in a psychiatric ward for very long. I just want the full check and then if somehow I'm physically healthy I'll consult a psychiatrist. Must I go to a general doctor first for a paper approval? Which I'd rather not because the ones I went to are evil. Calling the emergency seems unwise aswell because I'd rather choose the hospital.
Sorry to bother you with my situation. But I really need good advice. Thank you in advance!

Brief Answer:
See a psychiatrist.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back!
I would advice to see a psychiatrist and explain him the situation.
You may ask him if he agrees to exclude some other pathologies and explain him that you are ready to start treatment if nothing is found.
I think he will agree.
Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
