What Causes Severe Pain In Jaw, Neck, Face, Ear And Collarbone?
Question: I am having severe pain in my jaw, neck, and face. pain goes from above my ear down to my collarbone. I have been to the Dentist, had x-rays, all good. Been to two different Doctors. 1 said sinus infection, other said dental. both put me on antibiotics and pain relievers. its been 1 week. pain is getting worse and going further down my neck. any idea what it could be?

I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
In your case,there are 3 possibilities-
POSSIBILITY 1. TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA- its an inflammation of a nerve which comes from brain and comes towards face ,jaw and some part of neck.
POSSIBILITY 2. MYONEUROPATHY- there may be a partial or complete swelling of the muscles and fibrous tissue in that region that may be the root cause of such kind of pain.
POSSIBILITY 3. DISC PROLAPSE-there may be a compressed a nerve in the neck somewhere that might be causing radiating pain in those regions.Possibility of a disc prolapse should be kept in mind.
I suggest you get an Xray as well as an MRI and a detailed blood profile investigations done to find out the exact cause.
Physiotherapy,analgesics,anti-inflammatory drugs should help.
If its trigeminal neuralgia,a neurosurgeon will be able to treat you properly.
But i assure one thing, even if it is either of the above 3 possibilities,all have a good prognosis and you should eventually get back to normal in coming few days.Nothing to worry about.Do get back to me after ur reports are ready.
