What Causes Severe Pain In Knees, Hips And Shoulders While On Fosamax?

Osteoarthritis. Needs xrays and further workup. Fosamax isn't the cause.
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for the query.
Are you Diabetic?
Multiple joint pain at this age could be due to Osteoarthritis which is a degenerative arthritis.
The Fosamax would not cause this. It is given to reduce the bone destruction in Osteoporosis to reduce fracture risk.
It is an age related degenerative condition. You need to get xrays to analyse the severity of the arthritis.
The knees can be replaced by surgery if very painful and preventing you from doing daily activities.
Wear a knee cap. Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, kneeling, lifting weights. Apply hot packs to the painful joints.
Kindly get xrays of the involved joints for a better picture of the problem.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.

Dr. Aashish Raghu

Would you recommend orthopedist for follow up or rheumatologist? I did not have this problem before taking fosamax.
Kindly get the xrays
