Question: I have shooting pain in the lower left part of my right foot--just behind and beneath the ankle bone. If I apply pressure to the particular spot, pain shoots all the way up my leg.

Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your complaint. It could be due to formation of calcaneal spur, a condition where the terminal portion of a tendon gets calcified. An X-Ray of the right ankle - AP and lateral needs to be done. Thereafter you need to visit an orthopedician who could examine you and correlate with the findings of the X-Ray.

As of now, using soft padded shoes as well as hot compress should provide relief.
