What Causes Severe Pain In Neck When I Turn My Head?
Question: I have had MS since 1990. I have had pain in my schul for a few years, evident only when I press in my head. I now have quite severe pain in my neck when I turn my head to either side. I also experience pain when in lay in my bed, particularly when my head is not turned left or right. I am concerned I may have viral meningitis.
Brief Answer:
Possibility of cervical spondylosis rather than viral meningitis
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Possibility of viral meningitis without fever, severe headache, vomiting, seizure is unlikely.
At this age neck pain especially on turning may be due to cervical spondylosis.
You should get examined and evaluated by a neurologist.
Xray or Mri of cervical spine will be helpful.
For treatment neck isometric exercises and pain killers with muscle relaxant may be used.
Pain modulator drugs like pregabalin or amitryptiline or gabapentin can also be added.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
