What Causes Severe Pain In Shoulder Upon Physical Activity?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Jan 2016
Question: I was performing a Bench Press and followed up with lying DB pull overs. When I finished with the pullovers I felt intense pain in my right shoulder (it actually felt as if a tendon was being impinged). I have since been able to overhead press without pain, but I get sharp pains when reaching forward, or at an angle, at mid torso height. I have pain when extending my shoulder to the side. There is also occasional clicking. My fear is a tear in the labrum. If so, is it possible to recover with Rest, ice and NSAIDS?

Brief Answer:
tablet Diclofenac/ Ibuprofen

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome.
I have gone through your query.
Based on the information provided by you, it appears you might have pulled some muscle in the shoulder. But it is better to see orthopedician for examination and to confirm it
I would like to know is there a swelling?
Does it pain if you touch the affected area.?
Where exactly you have pain in the shoulder?

Preset I would suggest you to give rest to the affected shoulder. Take tablet Diclofenac 50 mg twice daily for 3 days ( it is prescription based agent, you need valid prescription from doctor) or you can take over the counter analgesic like Ibuprofen. Along with this apply ice to the affected part. Also apply analgesic gel or spray which are available as over the counter agent. You should be fine within 2 to 3 days.

If it persists after 3 days or pain worsens, I would suggest you to see orthopedician immediately.

This provisional advice provided by me is based entirely on the input provided to me. I would suggest examination by the doctor.

I hope this suggestion might be of some help to you.
Take care.
