default
Posted on Wed, 9 Nov 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,

I am experiencing severe pain in my right full arm since afternoon.
I took Dolo650 for the pain, the pain has reduced now but recurring in between.
What could be the reason for the pain?
You suspect it to be gastric, muscular or related to heart?
Shall I go for ECG? Please suggest.

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Probably muscular or cervical spine....

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is difficult to predict the cause of right arm pain without physical examination. But as its getting better after pain medication, it more likely seems like a muscular ache. Heart related doesn't present with right arm pain and therefore I consider heart issues as least likely.

Besides muscular reason, I will also consider cervical spine problems in the list of probabilities. If the pain doesn't resolve, you should visit a doctor for clinical examination.

Hope this answered your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.

Regards
