What Causes Severe Pain In The Chest?

default
Posted on Thu, 17 Aug 2017
Question: I have had pretty severe pain in my chest and back (lower left quadrant) for about 4 days. I assumed it was gas but it's not getting better. Now today I woke up and I have blisters in a line on my chest all the way around to my back that basically outlines where the internal pain has been for the past four days.

How long does this usually take? I'm just trying to figure out if I need to go to urgent care.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HealthcareMagic!

Your symptoms seem to be related to Shingles, which is a viral infection.

For this reason, I recommend consulting with your doctor as soon as possible or going to the ER for a physical exam.

If this diagnosis is confirmed, you need to start therapy with anti-viral like Acyclovir. It will help avoid the spreading of the infection and also heal sooner.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr.Iliri
