![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: I broke my back (compression fractures) . 3 weeks ago. I underwent kyphoplasty for the worst fractures but I am still haveing terrible pain. Everyone said it would subside in a couple of days. It cuts my breath and goes through my torso. Is this normal? I am 66. I have been using a back brace and walking a lot. The pain is still an 8-9. Is this normal?
Brief Answer:
It is not normal, get a MRI done.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
One of the main indications for kyphoplasty includes improvement of pain, so, if there is still severe pain after three weeks, this is not normal.
In my opinion, a new vertebral column MRI is necessary to get a correct understanding of your current condition.
If there is still any fracture or instability, posterior decompression and stabilization surgery may be necessary.
Discuss with your treating Doctor about these issues.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
