What Causes Severe Pain In The Right Hip?

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: I have a severe pain that originated in my right hip area and has since slowly slid down to my lower thigh/knee area. I did have an x-Ray on hip area, but by the time it happened my pain had moved on. (The technician would not x- Ray where the pain had resided that day and at that time). My right hip was x-rayed okay.
The pain still exist. I've had gout before and the pain is similar without the inflammation and redness. It feels like it is in the muscle vs the bone. What can I do to rid this pain? (I even stopped wearing shoes, thinking it would reduce any unnecessary pressure on the leg.) Your thoughts please.

Brief Answer:
Hip arthritis

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

We need to rule out arthritis of the hip. It could be due to Osteoarthritis or Gout.

Avoid meat and their gravies, fish, chicken, avocados, smoking and drinking alcohol. Drink 6 glasses of water daily. Get your Serum Uric acid levels tested in the blood.

Use a walking stick on the opposite side if you have difficulty in walking. Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs and kneeling. Apply hot packs to the affected region. Take Tablet Acetaminophen/Paracetamol with Tramadol combination twice a day. This requires prescription. You can get an MRI of the hip to look for other hip injuries.

Do follow the above measures and let me know how you feel.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
