Elastoplast around the chest.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for our query.
Your history of fall noted; as also the diagnosis of fractured ribs and severe pain.
The best way in relieving pain in fractured ribs is follows and you have to get the following thing done from a Doctor / General Surgeon. I really do not know whether someone in you house can do this:
Leucoplast , a surgical tape is cut long enough that it covers 50% of the chest wall. You have to sit in a chair with half raised hand and supported on a pillow or so. Once the tape size is determined, you have to exhale out all the air form the lungs. Someone else applies this tape to the chest wall in such a way that it covers the painful area. Apply the tape to the skin over the tender part, stick it nicely to the skin.
The results will be immediate and dramatic.
Try to keep this in place for at least 3 weeks. You may not need / requirement for pain-killers will be reduced drastically.
Take a stool softener to avoid constipation ( straining at bowel movement will increase the pain). Cough syrup if coughing is present. No activities that increase the pressure in abdomen and/ or chest. Take a bed rest. Continue anti-inflammatory medicines and calcium and vitamin D sachets.
I hope this will help you immediately and allow the healing of the fractured ribd within 3 weeks.
